About Outcaste

Outcaste Records was founded in 1995 by Shabs and Paul Franklyn on the strength of the club night of the same name. The aim was to promote and endorse British-Asian underground music. This led to the formation of Outcaste Music Publishing which became involved in publishing the biggest names in the scene like Nitin Sawhney and Badmarsh & Shri. 12 years on Outcaste's repertoire has expanded to take in other genre's and we have built up a catalogue of critically acclaimed albums and single compositions. In 2006 we expanded our services with the incorporation of a syncs department. This was to take advantage of the burgeoning interest in music from TV, advertising and film companies. As a publisher we continue to nurture artists and writers who have a firm belief in representing and exploring their culture through music. We have continued to grow year on year. 2007 has been our best year yet and has seen us celebrating our first UK No 1 album with our writer Gordon Mills who co-wrote on Newton Faulkner debut album 'Hand Built By Robots'.
